Brokerage Data

When you connect your Alpaca brokerage account, we access:

• Portfolio holdings and positions
• Account balances and buying power
• Trade history and order status
• Account configuration (margin status, pattern day trader status)

We access this data solely to manage your portfolio. We never access funds directly — all assets remain at Alpaca in your name.

Market Data

• Price data, technical indicators, and market regime signals from Polygon.io
• News, earnings, and catalyst research from Perplexity
• This data is not personal information — it is publicly available market data used to inform trading decisions

Automatically Collected

• Usage analytics and platform interaction data
• System logs for performance monitoring and error detection
• IP addresses and device information for security purposes

Portfolio Management

• Execute trades in your brokerage account based on your financial persona and market conditions
• Generate daily briefings summarizing portfolio activity and performance
• Apply your natural language instructions to adjust strategy and risk parameters
• Run pre-trade guardrail checks against your defined constraints

Service Delivery

• Deliver briefings via SMS/iMessage to your registered phone number
• Send trade approval requests when transactions exceed your defined thresholds
• Display portfolio performance, trade history, and briefings in the web dashboard

Service Improvement

• Analyze aggregated, anonymized performance data to improve our AI models
• Monitor system reliability and optimize infrastructure
• We never use your individual financial data to train models used by other users

Infrastructure Isolation

Each user runs on a dedicated, isolated compute instance. Your financial persona, trade logs, journal entries, and strategy data are stored separately from all other users. There is no shared database for agent runtime data.

Security Measures

• Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest for all stored data
• Per-user isolated compute environments on Fly.io
• API keys and credentials stored in encrypted secret management (Supabase Vault)
• Regular security monitoring and access controls

Data Retention

• Portfolio and trade data is retained for the duration of your account
• Daily briefings are retained for your historical reference
• You can request data export or deletion at any time
• Upon account deletion, your isolated instance and all associated data are destroyed

We Do Not Sell Your Data

Brief Capital does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, financial data, or trading activity to third parties.

Limited Sharing

We share your information only in these circumstances:

• Brokerage Execution: Trade orders are sent to Alpaca Markets for execution in your account
• Message Delivery: Briefings and approval requests are sent via Twilio to your registered phone number
• AI Processing: Market analysis prompts are sent to Anthropic (Claude) for AI reasoning — your personal financial data is processed within your isolated instance and is not shared with the AI provider as training data
• Payment Processing: Billing information is processed by Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights

Access and Control

• View your complete financial persona, trade history, and briefing archive
• Update your financial persona and strategy preferences at any time via natural language
• Disconnect your brokerage account at any time through your settings or directly through Alpaca
• Export your data in standard formats

Account Deletion

• Delete your account and all associated data at any time
• Your brokerage account and positions are unaffected by deletion — they remain at Alpaca
• Deletion is permanent and irreversible

Brief Capital is designed for adult investors. The Service is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

If you access Brief Capital from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. Material changes will be communicated via email and a notice on the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
